Just this side of Heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge. When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing: they each miss someone very special, someone who was left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; his eager body begins to quiver. Suddenly, he breaks from the group, flying over the green grass, faster and faster. You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into those trusting eyes, so long gone from your life, but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross the Rainbow Bridge together... *Author Unknown*

Lakoda
I love you and will miss you Lakoda, my bonita Akita. You gave us all you had for 12 years and I will miss you for many more. You were my best friend and protector and you did your job well. God needs you now at His right hand, but know that I will be along directly, never to part again. I Love You.

Kobe Nicholas 6/15/01 - 4/10/13
In memory of Kobe who was my shy sweet girl. I adopted Kobe from an Akita rescue when she was 8 months old and she was my baby for 11 years. Her favorite spot was in the living room watching the activities of the cul de sac from the front window. Kobe was a wonderful companion who loved to go for car rides and insisted I chase her in the yard after work. I miss hearing that wooo.. greeting my home at night. ~ Penny Nicholas ~

Truly our Anam Cara
For Friendship – Anam Cara (Soul Friend)
A poem by Irish poet, John O’Donohue
May you be blessed with good friends,
and learn to be a good friend to yourself,
journeying to that place in your soul where
there is love, warmth, and feeling.
May this change you.
May it transfigure what is negative, distant,
or cold within your heart.
May you be brought into real passion, kindness,
and belonging.
May you treasure your friends.
May you be good to them, be there for them,
and receive all the challenges, truth, and light you need.
May you never be isolated but know the embrace
of your anam cara.
