Toban is 12 to 18 months old and is full of youthful exuberance. He is one of three Akitas put on Humane Hold in a local shelter because of lack of food, water, shelter.  They were caked with feces and mud.

In foster care now, he is still learning that it is not ok to jump on people when you are excited to see them. He is a very sweet and loving boy that wants nothing more than to be loved and given as much attention as possible.

He had a rough start to his life and when he first came into his foster home, he knew that he wanted the toys that he was given, but he did not seem to know what to do with them. Now, he has figured out how much fun toys can be and loves to shake his stuffed toys or just chew on his bone. Granted, fetching is still a concept that he struggles with; he chases after the ball, but comes back without it.

Crate training is progressing slowly; he somewhat tolerates being in his crate at night and during the day while his foster parents are at work, but he cries a lot when he knows that people are up and about and he is in his crate.

He has had very strong reactions to cats, squirrels, and small dogs while out for his walks, so he would probably do best in a home without small animals to chase (he does fine with larger dogs). A home with small children would be a concern simply due to the fact that he could accidentally knock them over.

Toban had a rough start to the beginning of his life, but he has a terrific personality and he is going to be a terrific addition to the forever family that decides to adopt him.
