Maverick was picked up running at large with an adult male Akita companion. Their owner had lost their home and forced to move to a shelter. Most shelters do not accept pets, this one notwithstanding, and so the dogs were declared homeless. The owner was able to provide names and ages on the dogs. Maverick is a quiet and easygoing guy. He is housebroken, crate trained and lead broke. He LOVES his walks (2 miles a day). He is calm and has enjoyed meeting everyone we encounter on our walks or who comes to the house. After a year with me, he is protective of ‘his’ house and will bark. He gets along with most dogs. He will respond to aggression from a dog, with aggression (controllable). If he has a canine companion, a female is strongly suggested. He is good around kids, but he is not a ‘kids dog’. He prefers adults and teens to young children. He does not seem to be particularly predatory and his male companion did fine in a household of mixed dogs and a cat. He is responsive to voice commands. He would make a lovely and gentle companion to an adult home or one with older teens.
