Hanabi, formerly Barnaby, is a 7-9 mos. old male Akita puppy. He was exceedingly friendly upon meeting and anxious to jump all over me. He has no leash manners. Was in GREAT shape, glossy coat, has a drying hot spot at the base of his tail. Has had no vaccinations since owner procured/found him (March 2016). Is housebroken, not crate trained, but stays in a room when they are not home. Lived with an 8 y.o. intact female AmBull, two toddlers (1 and 3 yrs.) and recently a kitten all without incident. He allowed me to handle him all over. He has bbeen a house dog. No anxiety or destruction in the home.
Rode well in the car. Some crying...he was frightened when his owner picked him up and put him in the back and I tethered him so he couldn't climb in the front seat to help me drive. Settled down and slept halfway to Stacy's. Was curious at Stacy's, happy to meet her, petrified when we went into the kennel area and all the dogs started barking at him. Poor baby. And he is a baby.
Hanabi needs to be neutered and will be in foster care for about a month. Hanabi has some separation anxiety, which we are further evaluating and trying to treat/work with. Stay tuned for more info
